ELY CITY COUNCIL

SPECIALWORKSHOP MEETING

JANUARY 28, 2008

5:00 p.m.

 

Mayor Jim Doyle called a special workshop meeting of the Ely City Council to order at 5:00 p.m. on Monday January 28, 2008 in the Council Chamber at Ely City Hall.  Council Members present:  Mark Banowetz; Bill Grove, Tom Winkowski, Stephanie Mai and Bob Ballantyne.  Also in attendance:  Jeff Schott and City Administrator Aaron Anderson.

 

The City Council met in special session, pursuant to notice as required by State Code, to hold a goal setting session, facilitated by Jeff Schott of the Iowa Institute of Public Affairs.

 

Workshop Session, City Council Goal Setting

Mayor Doyle introduced Jeff Schott, of the Iowa Institute of Public Affairs as the facilitator for the goal setting session.  Mr. Schott facilitated a goal setting session for the Mayor and City Council, the items discussed include:

·       Review of recent city accomplishments,

·       Review of issues, concerns, opportunities and trends affecting Ely,

·       Identification of on-going priorities for Ely,

·       Discussion of possible new programs, policies, project and initiatives to be achieved in the next one to two years,

·       Discussion by Mayor and City Council of priorities for the list of new programs, policies, projects and initiatives, 

·       Discussion of organizational effectiveness.

 

Mr. Schott will prepare a report of the items discussed and the identified priorities for consideration of approval by the City Council.  Mr. Schott noted an action plan setting out the actions, lead persons and time lines needed to achieve the goals identified in the Goal Setting Report should be prepared by the City Administrator and considered for approval by the City Council.

 

Winkowski, second by Ballantyne, moved to adjourn.  Motion carried – 5 to 0.  The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
