ELY CITY COUNCIL and PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE

SPECIAL WORKSHOP MEETING

March 1, 2010

6:30 p.m.

 

Mayor Jim Doyle called a special workshop meeting of the Ely City Council to order at 6:30 p.m. on Monday March 1, 2010 in the Council Chambers at Ely City Hall. Council Members present:  Stephanie Mai, Bob Ballantyne, Kay Hale, Bill Grove, and Dale Stanek. Park and Recreation Committee members present: Shawn Weber, Chris Levi, Jeff Hilleman, Dave Rasmussen, and Lisa Hinton.  Also present Aaron Anderson, City Administrator/Clerk.

 

The City Council met in special session with the Parks & Recreation Committee, pursuant to notice as required by State Code, to conduct a workshop session regarding development of the Ely City Park.

 

Hale moved to approve the agenda as presented, second by Stanek; motion carried – 5 to 0.

 

Workshop re: Development of Ely City Park.  Mayor Doyle and the City Council members discussed matters related to development of the Ely City Park with the members of the Park & Recreation Commission.  Park & Recreation Committee chair Jeff Hilleman reported their goal of completing final grade and installation of limestone for two baseball/softball diamonds with base stubs to support play through age 14 yet this fiscal year.  Other items discussed include, but are not limited to: Park & Recreation Committee’s tentative development schedule, options for installation of features, sources of money to pay for developing the park and installing various features and equipment, fundraising options and possible activities, commissioning an architect to prepare architects renderings and digital presentations for park development, priorities for items to be built or installed, and other items.  City Administrator Anderson will send a list of transactions paid through the Park budget to Parks & Recreation Committee members.

 

City Council scheduled a workshop meeting for 6:30 p.m. March 22, 2010 regarding the Two and Five Year plan.

 

Stanek moved to adjourn, second by Hale; motion carried – 5 to 0.  Mayor Doyle declared the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
