ELY CITY COUNCIL

SPECIALMEETING

MARCH 4, 2008

5:30 p.m.

 

Mayor Jim Doyle called a special workshop meeting of the Ely City Council to order at 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday March 4, 2008 in the Council Chambers at Ely City Hall.  Council Members present:  Tom Winkowski, Bill Grove, Mark Banowetz, Stephanie Mai and Bob Ballantyne.  Also present: Randy Zbanek and City Administrator/Clerk Aaron Anderson

 

The City Council met in special session, pursuant to notice as required by State Code, to conduct a workshop session regarding action plans for priority projects identified in the 2008 Goal Setting Report including the Water Supply System Improvements and Ely City Park Development projects.

 

Grove, second by Mai, moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried – 5 to 0.

 

Workshop Session re: Priority Projects Identified in the 2008 City Council Goal Setting Report.

The Mayor and City Council discussed information, decisions and action items necessary to establish and carry out action plans for the priority projects for water system improvements.  Items discussed include, but are not limited to: status of initial contact with Cedar Rapids regarding whether connection to the Cedar Rapids water system is a viable possibility, possible locations for water towers, relative cost of several options.  Grove, second by Mai, moved to table further discussion regarding the water systems improvements action for further information from the City of Cedar Rapids.  Motion carried – 5 to 0.

 

The Mayor and City Council discussed information, decisions and action items necessary to establish and carry out action plans for development of the Ely City Park.  Items discussed include, but are not limited to: whether the existing plan is an acceptable base to guide development of the park, finance and how development of the park would be paid for, the likely first stage of development, and the importance of public and community involvement for this project

 

Grove, second by Mai, moved to adjourn.  Motion carried – 5 to 0.  The meeting adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
