New City Park Drainage Issues

Terry Mackey asked where the storm sewers from North Park Second Addition emptied.  Portions of the storm sewers empty into the eastern part of the new City Park and the storm water runoff has increased with the continuing construction.  Mackey and Brian Tharp said that they are having water seepage problems and they believe the problems may be attributed to the drainage through the adjacent parkland.  Several temporary solutions to handle the water runoff were discussed.  A permanent solution to the problem would include the construction of detention ponds near the outlet from North Park Second Addition and the southwest corner of the park.  The City Engineer will be contacted for his recommendations for what can be done in the short term and costs associated with the recommendations.  Kevin Meskimen will contact officials involved with the Hoosier Creek Watershed Project for possible financial assistance.

FY2006 Budget Workshop

Council members met to review proposed FY06 expenditures.  Discussions were held regarding the Community Center Improvements and the Parks budget.  Pat Stanek outlined the Parks priorities.

Motion by Sturgeon, seconded by Banowetz, to adjourn.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned 8:12 pm .
