Resident Tree Giveaway
A fresh stock of bare root tree saplings has been donated to the City of Ely and our residents by Bruggeman Lumber from Sandsprings, Iowa These trees are free to interested Ely residents, as supplies last. The two varieties available are Red Oak and Bur Oak. Each person will receive five bare root saplings to ensure that you end up with several healthy options to choose from for your planting.
Care instructions will be given upon pickup. Due to their mature size, residents who participate will be required to sign a document stating that they will not plant these trees in the right of way and that they will contact Iowa One Call before planting.
Tree pickup will take place tomorrow Thursday May 6 outside of City Hall from 8am - 3pm. Those who are unable to make it during the pickup event tomorrow can make arrangements to pick up their trees early next week.
These trees will help serve a vital role in our reforestation efforts here in Ely - this is one of many steps in our Derecho recovery efforts. Thank you to Bruggeman Lumber for your generous donation!!
