Tree Trimming Program

Public Works has begun placing notices on homes who upon inspection have been found to have trees which are not in compliance of minimum height requirements per City Code, Chapter 151.

Those notified must have their trees trimmed to comply with City Code no later than 8am on April 13th, 2021. There are three options for residents:

1. Complete the trimming yourself, if capable.
2. Hire out the trimming service to an outside contractor.
3. Opt in to the City of Ely Tree Trimming Program: Your tree will be trimmed by city staff to comply with City Code at a cost of $50 per tree. No administrative fee will be charged. To opt-in or for more information, visit: https://www.elyiowa.com/public-works

If tree(s) are not in compliance with City Code by the posted date, homeowners will be given a final notice that your tree(s) will be trimmed by the City at a cost of $50/tree plus an additional administrative fee of $50 per notice. For questions contact Public Works at 319-848-4260.
