Amending Water Rates - May 6, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that there is now on file for public inspection in the office of the City Clerk of Ely, Iowa, the proposed “ORDINANCE AMENDING WATER SERVICE CHARGES”. A public hearing will be held to consider the previously referenced matter by City Council, in Council Chambers at City Hall at 1570 Rowley Street, at 7:00pm, on Monday, May, 6th 2024. The proposed amendment will update the rate table for water service charges. All interested persons are invited to attend the meeting and be heard on the proposed amendment to the Ely Code of Ordinances. The public has an opportunity to comment on Amendment to the Water Rates at the May 6, 2024 council meeting at 7pm. Water Revenue Loan, Old Town District - May 6, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
City Council will meet on May 6, 2024, at Ely City Hall at 7:00pm, for the purpose of instituting proceedings and taking action to enter into a loan and disbursement agreement and to borrow money thereunder in a principal amount not to exceed $1,600,000, for the purpose of paying the cost, to that extent, of planning, designing and constructing improvements and extensions to the Municipal Waterworks Utility System of the City. The public has an opportunity to comment on Water Revenue Loan for the Old Town District project at the May 6, 2024 council meeting at 7pm. General Obligation Loan, Old Town District - May 6, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
City Council will meet on May 6, 2024, at Ely City Hall at 7:00pm, for the purpose of instituting proceedings and taking action to enter into a loan and disbursement agreement and to borrow money thereunder in a principal amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the purpose of paying the cost, to that extent, of planning, designing and constructing improvements and extensions to the Municipal Sanitary Sewer System of the City. General Obligation Loan, Old Town District - May 6, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
City Council will meet on May 6, 2024, at Ely City Hall at 7:00pm, for the purpose of instituting proceedings and taking action on a proposal to enter into a loan agreement and to borrow money thereunder in a principal amount not to exceed $550,000 for the purpose of paying the costs, to that extent, of (a) constructing street, water system, storm water drainage, sanitary sewer and sidewalk improvements; and (b) acquiring and installing street lighting, signage and signalization improvements.The public has an opportunity to comment on General Obligation Loan for the Old Town District project at the May 6, 2024 council meeting at 7pm. Amending Chapter 50 of the Code of Ordinance: Nuisance Abatement - March 18, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
A Public hearing will be held by the City of Ely on the proposed changes to the “CODE OF ORDINANCE NUISANCE ABATEMENT PROCEDURE FOR THE CITY OF ELY, IOWA.” The City Council will meet at 7:00p.m. on the 18th day of March 2024, in the Council chambers at which time any citizen of Ely, Iowa, or any other person having an interest in the proposed “CODE OF ORDINANCE NUISANCE ABATEMENT PROCEDURE FOR THE CITY OF ELY, IOWA,” may appear and be heard for or against the adoption of the proposed changes. Proposed Amended Ordinance: Nuisance Abatement
Old Town District: Phase 1 Infrastructure Project - February 5, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Council will conduct a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost for the construction of the Old Town District Phase 1 Infastructure Project. The project includes: replace and abandon existing 4-inch water main with approximately 215 LF of 6-inch and 1,320 LF of 10-inch C900 PVC water main and 158LF of 10-inch ductile iron water main. Project will replace and remove existing sanitary sewer with 508 LF of 8-inch PVC sanitary sewer and construct 200 LF of 4-inch PVC sanitary sewer. The existing disturbed roadway surface will be replaced with approximately 1,255 SY of 8-inch PCC pavement and 5,730 SY of 6-inch HMA pavement along with curb & gutter, sidewalks, and crosswalk pavers. Project will replace and remove the existing storm sewer with approximately 2,483 LF of RCP storm sewer of varying sizes.The project is located along the entirety of Traer Street and Main Street from Traer Street to Dows Street. The public has an opportunity to comment on Phase 1 of the Old Town District Infrastructure project at the February 5, 2024 council meeting at 7pm. Update to Urban Renewal Plan - January 2, 2024 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The city is updating its urban renewal plan to include the new Founders Grove Development and Krob’s Downtown Project. Updating the plan will allow the city to capture TIF funding from both areas. Tax increment financing (TIF) is a method of financing used to encourage developers to construct buildings or other private improvements, or to pay for public improvements, such as streets, sidewalks, sewer and water, and similar improvements. The public has an opportunity to comment on the Urban Renewal Plan at the January 2nd, 2024 council meeting at 7pm. Public Review of the Updated Comp Plan - December 18, 2023 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The state of Iowa requires the city to update its comp plan every 10-15 years. This acts as a preparedness plan for the city to follow for the next decade. The update was completed by Bolton & Menk utilizing results from a public survey earlier this year, a steering committee made up of residents, business owners and stakeholders in our community and was reviewed by the Planning & Zoning Board. Now is the time for public review and input. Comments can be posted via the link online or sent to cityadmin@elyiowa.com by end of day 12/19. A public hearing will be held Monday, 12/18, at 7pm at City Hall
City Park Parking Lot - December 4, 2023 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Plans for Phase 1 of a parking lot on the north side of City Park can be viewed here. The parking lot will be accessed by extending Northgate Drive into the park. This project was budgeted to be completed during FY 24. The public has an opportunity to comment on this project at the December 4th council meeting at 7pm. Amendment to Zoning Code - December 4, 2023 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
A request was submitted for 1525 & 1535 Walker Drive to be rezoned from C1 to R1A. These properties currently have a house on them, and the owner wants to build a new home. Our current zoning code requires it to be rezoned appropriately. A Good Neighbor Meeting was held, and this request was also reviewed and approved by the Planning & Zoning Board. The public has an opportunity to comment on this amendment at the December 4th council meeting at 7pm. Written comments can also be submitted to cityadmin@elyiowa.com before 3pm on 12/4.
FY23 Budget Amendment #1 - May 1, 2023 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
There will be no increase in taxes. Any residents or taxpayers will be heard for or against the proposed amendment at the time and place specified in the document.
