Press Release: New City Administrator

Eldrew Miller City Administrator

Council Selects Eldy Miller as City Administrator

At the City Council meeting on September 18, the Ely City Council approved an offer of employment letter with Eldy Miller to serve as the community’s new City Administrator. Miller has resided in Ely since 2006 and has distinguished himself through involvement in the community throughout that time, serving first on the City’s Planning & Zoning Commission, and then as Mayor for the past 8 years. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and has over 20 years of business management experience. He has resigned his position as Mayor to serve as City Administrator. Miller said, “I have a keen understanding of Ely’s challenges and opportunities and look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve in this new capacity. I had not considered taking this step until very recently but feel it will be the best path forward for the City. I am honored to have the faith of the City Council to allow me to move into this important new role.”

Mayor Pro Tem Dan Whitaker stated, “Eldy has been a fantastic leader for our community in his current role, but we are excited to see the progress he will help the community achieve in this new one. Ely has seen great growth and improvement in recent years, but we have struggled with stability in the City Administrator position. Eldy is uniquely positioned to provide the community with an enthusiastic champion in this role and is deeply invested in the community. We believe he will provide the community with competent and dedicated service for many years to come.”

Miller is expected to begin his new duties within 30 days. His mayoral position will be filled in the November election.
