Welcome, Mayor Ladwig!

Mayor Scott Ladwig

Welcome Letter From Mayor Scott Ladwig

Thank you to all, the people of Ely for entrusting me with this great responsibility and privilege, and having the confidence in choosing me as your next mayor.

To Administrator Miller, thank you for your steady and compassionate leadership over these past eight years. Over your two terms, you’ve shown us your resolve as well as your heart and in times of unprecedented crisis, kept us safe. You’ve steered our city steadfast throughout all and have maintained a vision that will benefit generations to come.

Our city is stronger because of your leadership and vision, and I’m looking forward to continuing the good work you’ve fostered throughout this community.

As the mayors before you, those who had a vision for what our city could be, knew that whatever it would take to make Ely a thriving community, the work would need to be done together WITH the community. It is an honor and a privilege to stand on their shoulders and continue that work, and I will do it in exactly the same way- WITH the extraordinary people of Ely.

I also want to say thank you to all of the incredible people of Ely, and have no doubt we share a common love for this city, needs, and wants of our community.

I want to give a special acknowledgment to all of the people who believed in me. In particular, to my amazing wife Lisa, and my two daughters LeeAnn and Brooklyn - thank you for standing with me every step of the way. And to all the many friends and supporters who believed in me and encouragement along the way - thank you.

Living in Ely for nearly thirty-five years, we’ve made a lot of progress as a community, however I recognize that progress does invite new challenges and opportunities, with the support of the community and our elected officials, Ely, together, can and will continue to prosper far into the future.

As we begin a new chapter in our city, I feel it’s important to take a moment to reflect on why I love this community. I truly believe Ely is an extraordinary city — not because of our rule setting between metropolitan areas, or incredible grass root businesses, or even its proximity to beautiful lakes and fantastic trails, all of which are vital assets that promote our area — no, we are truly an extraordinary city because of you, the residents of Ely.

Thank you, Ely, for giving me the opportunity to lead as we begin this next chapter of our city. My promise to you, our community, will be to inspire vision and advocate only the very best for our community.

So now… let’s get to work...
