Cedar Valley Nature Trail

Bike Trail in City Park

The 67 mile Cedar Valley Nature Trail that connects Linn County to Waterloo makes its way straight through the heart of our town. Coming in from the north, the trail runs parallel to our City Park which offers bathrooms, shaded rest areas, and a playground. Following City Park, the trail runs behind a local favorite, Dan and Debbie’s Creamery. Here you can find fresh ice cream to cool you down on your ride, as well as a variety of authentic Iowa made products. The trail then leads you right to Dows Street, Ely's historic downtown center. You'll find a bar & grill, a delicious bakery, a brewery, a boutique shop, art studio, pet salon, chiropractor office and several hair salons. As you exit town on the trail, you'll wrap behind City Hall, a repurposed building on the historic registry that was once a school house. Here you will find a playground with picnic tables and shade. Restrooms are available inside City Hall during normal business hours. Following the trail southbound, you’ll be leave Ely and head towards Lake MacBride and the City of Solon.
